Porcelain Veneers

Dr. Stirneman is skilled in creating customized porcelain veneers, or laminates, to help improve your smile. Porcelain veneers are a thin covering of porcelain that are chemically bonded to your teeth.  Unlike crowns, which envelop or encase the entire tooth, a porcelain veneer is bonded to the front surface of the tooth to create a beautiful result.  A veneer can improve the color, shape and alignment of your teeth in just a couple of visits! Dr. Stirneman can customize veneers without removing much of your natural tooth structure. During the first appointment, a small portion of the enamel is removed and a temporary veneer is fabricated and placed onto the tooth.  About two weeks later, the final veneer product is bonded onto the teeth.  The bond is extremely strong, so you can use them just as you would your own teeth.

Dr. Stirneman demands  the most aesthetic and durable materials from the laboratory fabricating your veneers.  This means that you recieve a product that is made to pass the test of time and that is virtually impossible to differentiate from a completely natural tooth.

Many patients are a little unsure as to whether crowns or veneers fit their needs best.  If you have questions about whether veneers are the right option for you, we would be happy to see you for a consultation.  Give us a call!

Frequently Asked Questions

A veneer is a thin, tooth-colored overlay that is bonded to the front of teeth to create a beautiful individual smile. They can help repair damaged, discolored or misaligned teeth. Unlike crowns, veneers do not require the removal of much natural tooth structure.
A crown is a covering used for a tooth that is badly shaped or colored, or to support a tooth with a large filling when there is not enough tooth structure left. Crowns can be made of porcelain fused to metal or just metal. Placing a crown onto a patient’s tooth requires that some of the natural tooth structure be removed. A veneer is a very thin overlay that is placed on the front of a tooth. It does not require removal of as much natural tooth structure. Veneers are best for restoring healthy and strong teeth that need to be adjusted for cosmetic purposes.
